Education Service Center, Region 20 (ESC-20) will be offering a unique training opportunity in the area of Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC) to support students with non-verbal and low-verbal disabilities, including students with Autism, Down Syndrome, Cognitive, and Orthopedic Disabilities. Ten teams each comprised of a classroom teacher, speech and language pathologist, and others will be selected to participate in a specialized grant program to develop a functional communication system for a student who is nonverbal or has limited language or unintelligible speech. This program will be utilizing LAMP Words for Life, a symbol-based, text to speech communication app based on the PRC Unity Language System, utilizing the iPad. As participants, each team (which must be comprised of at least two members, including the student's teacher and speech therapist) will receive an iPad and the LAMP Words for Life app. ** 25 hours CEU credit from TSHA pending approval.**
