This training is designed
to introduce adult education teachers and supervisors to the new Texas AEL
Content Standards for English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics for ABE/ASE
and HSE. In this training participants will explore the new standards and will
become familiar with the format of the benchmarks specifically for the content
areas of ELA and Math. The participants will then unwrap standards to increase
understanding and usability for instructional planning with standards.
The instructors will be introduced to Backwards Design and Gradual Release of
Instruction as a means of creating learning targets aligned to the standards.
This training also offers guidance on how to begin work on the process of aligning
HSE lessons and instruction to the standards. This is a three-hour training.
