Children with disabilities are at greater risk for traumatic experiences, which can impact their success in the classroom. This session was originally developed by Stop Abuse for Everyone's Disability Services, in partnership with The Hogg Foundation for Mental Health and The National Child Traumatic Stress Network, for classroom teachers, school counselors, and other educational staff to:
- increase understanding of the impact of trauma such as medical trauma, bullying, abuse and neglect on children with Intellectual and/or other Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and
- explore new options for thinking about and responding to emotional and behavioral challenges in the classroom setting
