Pre-K and Early Education Collaborative(PEEC) Series: Making Connections through Reading & Writing



Education Service Center, Region 20 (ESC-20) provides assistance to districts in the successful development and implementation of a school readiness integration model of coordinated funding that brings school districts, Head Start programs and child care providers together in a mixed delivery model.  ESC-20 also provides leadership to ensure the effective regional implementation of appropriate instructional strategies in early childhood settings through technical assistance and professional development in the areas of developmentally appropriate practices and curriculum and supports parents with Pre-Kindergarten information and eligibility criteria.

Important Session Information:


Through the lens of the PreK Guidelines, this training will assist teachers in engaging students through a variety of modalities in the classroom. Utilizing hands-on, minds-on materials and activities keeps things interesting, this training will take a dive deep into the use ofConcept Development as a means to spark instructional discussions and activities that will promote students' higher-order thinking skills and cognition. Teacher's will focus on understanding rather than on rote instruction in building children’s critical thinking skills.
