The Basics of Literacy Instruction: Basic Reading Skills for Students with Reading Difficulties and Disabilities



ESC-20 provides training and technical support related to inclusive services for students with disabilities to gain access to the general curriculum. These supports provide strategies so students with disabilities are actively involved and progress within the general curriculum and on state assessments.

Important Session Information:


Participants will be introduced to the basics of phonemic awareness and phonics with an emphasis on how to support students with reading difficulties and disabilities. Participants will leave this session with an understanding of the components of basic reading and with practical application strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners.

Participants do not require any prerequisite content knowledge to benefit from this training.
