CANCELED: Emerging Practices in Second Language Acquisition



The LOTE specialists provide professional development and technical assistance for the purpose of improving the linguistic proficiency of all students learning a foreign language. World language educators are invited to networking sessions. The following areas are targeted: research-based practices in foreign language classroom instruction and testing, the LOTE TEKS, the needs of heritage and non-heritage speakers, and the three modes of communication (interpersonal, presentational and receptive) essential to language acquisition in a proficiency-based classroom.

Important Session Information:


During this session we will discuss emerging practices in second language instruction. The focus of the presentation will be on Comprehensible Input and Teaching Proficiency through Reading, Storytelling and Singing Along strategies.

This targets K-12 Spanish educators, both LOTE and Bilingual teachers. AATSP members will be able to attend for free and those educators not part of the association will be able to attend at a discounted fee.
