The goal of Drug Impairment Training for Education Professionals (DITEP) is to enable secondary education professionals to recognize the signs and symptoms of drug and/or alcohol impairment, in order to: prevent and impaired student from driving away from campus, and/or serve as an intervention tool to reduce future instances of DWI. The information and procedures presented in this course are for administrative purposes only. They are designed to aid in the assessment of drug and/or alcohol impairment in student. The subject matter will present upon some, but not all factors a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) considers when examining a drug-impaired individual. This course will not certify participants to be DREs.
Note: Day 1 of this course, January 7th, is for administrators, counselors, school nurses, school resource officers, and other secondary education professionals. Day 2 of this course, January 8th, is specifically for school nurses and will address the assessment of students potentially under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. In order for nurses to attend day 2, they must have attended day 1 on January 7th.
