Meeting 3/4-
Under HB 617, the Commissioner requires each school district or shared services arrangement to designate at least one employee to serve as the district’s or shared services arrangement’s designee on transition and employment services for students enrolled in special education programs. ESC-20 will host three “working” meetings throughout the academic year, with a fourth meeting held in May to celebrate graduating seniors and district success stories.
Transition designees and VAC teachers will be able to network, and collaborate on effective transition planning and services. Each meeting will have a guest speaker. Guest speakers will be from different agencies in San Antonio and Bexar County to include:
- Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC),
- Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS),
- Texas Workforce Solutions-Vocational Rehabilitation (TWS-VR)
- Department of State Health Services (DSHS), and
- Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS).
The business portion of the meeting is conducted after the guest speaker and will include Texas Association of Vocational Adjustment Coordinators (TAVAC) business, discussion of legislative updates, transition updates and to allow time to share ideas and network.
