Dyslexia
Webinar: Dyslexia Identification Parts 4 and 5: Dyslexia Score Interpretation and Case Studies - Summer 2020



ESC-20 provides training and technical assistance for professionals serving student with dyslexia. Students with dyslexia usually experience difficulties with other language skills such as spelling, writing, and pronouncing words.

Important Session Information:


COVID-19 Adaptation:  Out of an abundance of caution, this session will be offered virtually.  Due to this change, the format has changed.  Participants will participate in a 3-hour Zoom and complete outside assignments to accrue the remaining three hours of credit.

Participants must have a desktop or laptop to participate, along with an adequate internet connection.  Active participation of various forms will be required during the session in order to obtain course credit.  

You will receive a confirmation email from Connect20. Be sure to check your spam or junk mail for the email which will contain your login instructions.  If you do not receive a confirmation email, call Central Registration (210-370-5671) for assistance during business hours 8am-4:30pm.

This session will require participants to join an ESC-20 Google Classroom. If your district has not white-listed Region 20 Google Account: @esc20.info, you may be required to use a personal Gmail account in order to complete assignments. Participants will be required to complete the outside assignment in order to receive credit for the session.

During Part 4, participants will explore the various types of data to incorporate into a dyslexia evaluation.  Participants will use qualitative and quantitative data and practice interpreting and discussing this information with Section 504 or Admission, Review, or Dismissal (ARD) Committees. 

In Part 5, participants will use case studies to analyze student data and decide about a determination of dyslexia.  Participants will become familiar with a framework for documenting evaluation results, and will use this framework to practice reporting student data to Section 504 or Admission, Review, or Dismissal (ARD) Committees. 

PREREQUISITE:  Participants must complete Dyslexia Identification Parts 1, 2, and 3 or their equivalent prior to attending this session. Participants need to have access to a copy of the Dyslexia Handbook, 2018 Update for this session.  

Participants must attend all days to receive credit. 

Note:  This workshop will not cover the administration of specific tests used in the identification of dyslexia.  If you need to learn how to administer assessments, please refer to the following sessions for test administration procedures:  #58437 CTOPP-2, #58438 GORT-5, or #58439 WRMT-III and TWS-5.
