This is the version for attending in person. If you wish to attend via ZOOM (webinar), please register for session #58463 instead. Please note: It is recommended to attend in person since the workshop is designed as a working session for participants to initiate their application to request a High Cost Fund award from TEA. However, the ZOOM option is available for those who desire the information but cannot attend in person.
High Cost Fund (HCF) is an optional source of additional Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Part B (IDEA-B funds) to help LEAs (ISDs and Open-Enrollment Charter Schools) with the financial impact on the LEA's budget to provide special education and related services to specific high-need students with disabilities.
A high-need student is a student with disabilities whose costs associated with their special education and related services, clearly identified in their IEP (Individualized Educational Plan), are at least $29,277 in 2018-2019.
During this workshop, participants will participate in a guided, hands-on activity for initiating their 2018-2019 HCF application to request a HCF award from TEA. Please bring your laptop.
Beneficial, but not required: Please bring IEPs and cost/expenditure information for students for whom you anticipate qualify as a high-need student.
Prior to attendance at the workshop, please ensure you have access to the "Nonpublic/High Cost Funds" application via the Texas Education Agency Login (TEAL) at:
https://tealprod.tea.state.tx.us/
If you do not have access, please request access using the link for "Nonpublic/HCF" located on TEA's Secure Applications Information webpage at:
https://tea.texas.gov/About_TEA/Other_Services/Secure_Applications/TEA__Secure_Applications_Information/
Only one person per LEA may have access to this application. If you are a member of a special education shared services arrangement (SSA), your Fiscal Agent submits the HCF Application on your behalf.
Lunch for 90 minutes will be on your own.
