Dyslexia Identification Series, Part 2: Dyslexia K-1 Screening



ESC-20 provides training and technical assistance for professionals serving student with dyslexia. Students with dyslexia usually experience difficulties with other language skills such as spelling, writing, and pronouncing words.

Important Session Information:


This session will review the requirements that all students in kindergarten and first grade be screened for dyslexia.  Participants will review Chapter 2 of the Dyslexia Handbook, 2018 Update to better understand federal and state requirements, selecting and administering a screener, interpreting data, and ongoing progress monitoring.

PREREQUISITE:  It is recommended that participants attend Dyslexia Identification Series, Part 1 prior to attending this session.  Participants who do not attend the prerequisite will need to print and bring their own copy of the Dyslexia Handbook, 2018 Update with them to this training.

This session meets the criteria outlined in TAC §232.11 regarding continuing professional education hours required to renew teacher certification through the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC).
