Dyslexia Identification Series, Part 1: Dyslexia 101 (Characteristics, Risk Factors, and Instruction) - Winter 2019



ESC-20 provides training and technical assistance for professionals serving student with dyslexia. Students with dyslexia usually experience difficulties with other language skills such as spelling, writing, and pronouncing words.

Important Session Information:


This session is an introduction to dyslexia, and it will include information from Chapters 1 and 4 of the Dyslexia Handbook, 2018 Update.  We will explore the characteristics and risk factors of dyslexia along with how these conditions may affect literacy development.

We will also examine requirements for instruction provided to students identified with dyslexia.

Participants will receive a copy of the Dyslexia Handbook, 2018 Update.

This session meets the criteria outlined in TAC §232.11 regarding continuing professional education hours required to renew teacher certification through the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC).
