It is crucial to provide high quality educational opportunities in the Least Restrictive Environment, especially in the early years. Schools are exploring various inclusive service delivery models to fulfill the needs of diverse learners. The co-teach model is one effective model allowing general and special educators to differentiate and deliver instruction with assurances that all students have full access to the grade-level expectations of the general curriculum. This training is developed from the Texas Co-Teaching Guidelines and participants will receive a copy of the "How to Guide: Guidelines for Co-Teaching in Texas." After attending this training, teaching teams will leave with knowledge of: • A common vocabulary: Co-Teaching, Inclusion, and Access to the General Curriculum; • Definition and purpose of Co-Teaching; • What Co-Teaching is and is not; • Six Co-Teaching Approaches; • Roles and responsibilities of both the general and special education teachers; and • Tools for building co-teaching relationships. It is highly recommended that you attend with your co-teacher.
