Active Learning is an approach that can be used with all learners, but is most effective for those who have significant multiple disabilities and are functioning in the 0-48 month developmental level. The Active Learning approach can be used with individuals with various visual conditions, such as CVI (Cortical Visual Impairment) and ONH (Optic Nerve Hypoplasia), as well as with those who are identified as deafblind or medically fragile. For more information about Active Learning, please visit www.activelearningspace.org.
Does this information describe any of the students you serve? Are you unsure about how to implement an educational program for them that's meaningful? Participants in this cohort will utilize modules as well as in-person sessions to build skills regarding the implementation of Active Learning strategies for students with Multiple Disabilities.
Cohort members will meet at Education Service Center, Region 20 on the following dates:
October 6, 2021
January 20, 2022
May 24, 2022
Cohort members will also participate in virtual meetings throughout the school year as they begin to collect data and incorporate an Active Learning approach with students in their classroom.
Handouts will distributed via a link to a Google Drive sent to your email 1-2 days before the training so that you may have the option to print it prior to the training. Please bring your device if you choose to view the handouts electronically.
