Cortical Visual
Impairment (CVI) is now the leading cause of visual impairment in children in
the western world. Children who have CVI, or brain damage related vision
loss, have unique visual and learning needs. They require specialized
educational strategies, materials and often, environmental adaptations.
Diane Sheline will discuss identification of children with CVI
and assessment tools to use. Overall strategies will be discussed as well
as how to adapt the environment and modify the presentation of materials, toys,
and other learning items. Learn how you can encourage your students to
use their vision more consistently and efficiently on a daily basis.
