Professional development for school counselors is aligned with the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs and supports work in the four service delivery components: Guidance Curriculum, Responsive Services, Individual Planning, and System Support.

Mindfulness-Based Practices for Educators in the Classroom

Our young people experience a great deal of stress and anxiety in school that we, as educators, feel we need more tools to assist our students. We will discuss how mindfulness-based strategies are tools for educators that seek to improve students' cognition, their social development, and emotional development, which can lead to better academic outcomes. 

Objectives for this three-hour presentation include:

  • Understand what mindfulness is and why it matters
  • Learn current research on how mindfulness supports students
  • Learn mindfulness tools and exercises for students at all grade levels
  • Provide recommendations for integrating mindfulness in the classroom
