If you’re a first-year teacher, don’t miss it! In this session you can expect to learn the fundamentals of reading. Become familiar with the five components of a balanced literacy program, the continuum of reading skills, and the motivational strategies that help students LEARN and LOVE to read. It is especially designed for beginning teachers in the primary grades. Teachers will walk away with lots of ideas on developing literacy skills in a structured yet fun way. The scientific-based research used in this session is The Reading Research and Education Center University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Phonemic Awareness in Young Children, Adams, Foorman, Lundberg and Beeler and the Florida Center for Reading Research.
