Career & Technology Education (CTE)
Cancel - Celebrating Career Awareness and Career Clusters with Counselors at all Grade Levels

CTE instruction aims at developing foundational skills, core workplace competencies, and specific skill competencies in various occupational areas. Internships, practicums, cooperative education, school-based enterprises, dual enrollment programs, and apprenticeships are a few venues that deliver CTE by providing meaningful opportunities for leaners to apply their academic and technical skills. We serve the career and education community through targeted support for CTE compliance, program development and implementation with rigor and relevancy; bridging with postsecondary education and industry partners to build a global workforce, quality education programs and 21st century learners.

We will explore how to help guide students to tie career awareness tools to a variety of career objectives, passions and goals.

This session will reinforce programs of study (POS) (or whatever you call them in your district…four year plans, PGP’s, career paths…) and can help students think in terms of the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in a career, in making choices for postsecondary education, and for life.

Time will be provided for counselors/participants to network with one another to review the sequencing of courses, vertical alignment, and course pathways within their own ISD, to discuss why they align courses the way they do according to statute or for greater student success, and how individual districts might implement a new strategy or tools back home in their own unique environment.
