This update will consist of two 3 hour sessions.
Part 1
Social Emotional Learning and G/T services
Participants will explore characteristics of gifted students that tend to influence their social and emotional needs. This will include an investigation of research based topics that present as challenges in the social and emotional needs of G/T students. The morning will culminate with application of strategies that will empower students in G/T services to retain their unique identity in curriculum.
Part 2
Application of Genius Hour
SWISD utilizes Genius Hour as a method of providing authentic interest based learning in the classroom. Participants will review the components and resources for implementation of Genius Hour and will utilize the ideas from the morning to embed opportunities for students to apply experiences that are meaningful to the student into curriculum.
