Child Abuse in Texas – What Schools Need to Know
ESC-20 provides training and technical assistance to school districts in support of McKinney Vento.
Important Session Information:
The Child Abuse and Neglect Symposium will train school staff to identify child abuse and neglect to ensure Texas children are safe and protected. The session will provide information on identification of sex trafficking victims and required reporting for suspected sexual abuse. The session will also assist participants with gaining a better understanding of how the Child Protective Services System operates and what resources are available to them at the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Information and working case examples will be provided over a new stage of service that has rolled out within CPS called Alternative Response. A focus on continued collaboration between schools and the Child Protective Services System will be addressed in the session.
