This one-day Safety-Care recertification session is for individuals who are already trained as Safety Care specialists in need of their annual recertification. The recertification provides attendees with a review, additional competency development and assessment of the skills necessary for the Safety-Care Core Curriculum including Incident Prevention, Incident Minimization, and Incident Management. This only serves as a recertification for currently active Safety-Care specialists. The Safety-Care program emphasizes strategies for not only preventing and managing behavioral challenges, but also for effectively teaching replacement behaviors with a positive reinforcement based approach.
In accordance with HB 3630, prohibiting the use of 'aversive techniques,' this session will not include the chair stability hold. All participants will be restricted from the training and use of the chair stability hold.
