During this session, an overview of the collaborative process between the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) committee and the Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) will be provided. For students with disabilities who are English Language Learners, the ARD committee in conjunction with the LPAC work collaboratively to make entry decisions, determine services, make decisions regarding state assessment decisions, and review reclassification criteria. Additionally, the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) Alternate will be discussed. This session provides references to current statutes and regulations and identifies best practices to follow when the ARD committee works in conjunction with the LPAC.
