Despite over 50 years of clinical research, basic issues related to definition and differential diagnosis of Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) remain. However, clinicians must differentially diagnose CAS and choose appropriate treatment options. Present understanding of CAS from the available literature related to definition of the disorder, assessment/differential diagnosis, and intervention will be reviewed.
