Use of Quality Data to Drive Instruction

Important Session Information:


This workshop is specially designed for and exclusively for speech-language pathologists new to providing services in the schools (i.e., either beginning SLPs or those who have previously practiced in a medical/clinical setting) in Region 20.  It includes four 90-minute virtual meetings, 2 half-day virtual meetings, and a site visit from the Region 20 SLP Consultant to each participant’s school or virtually as required by safe community practices. This registration is for the four 90-minute presentations that will take place on August 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th, 2020. Day 2 of training will require separate registration, and take place on 9-23-20 and 9-24-20. Site visits will be scheduled at the convenience of the participants and will be completed by January 31, 2021.  

The content of this workshop will guide new school speech-language pathologists through federal and TEA guidelines and best practices regarding the development of Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance draft statements, Individualized Educational Plan goals, progress monitoring, and Full Individual Evaluations from the standpoint of a speech-language pathologist. 

This program has been approved for 6 clock hours of continuing education credit by the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing-Association (TSHA) for Day 1. TSHA approval does not imply endorsement of course content, specific products, or clinical procedures.

Learning Objectives: Participants will . . .

1. evaluate a communication Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance draft statement for the adequacy of content,

2. create a measurable Individualized Educational Plan communication goal,

3. evaluate a Full Individual Evaluation communication summary for the adequacy of content, and

4. apply course content to a student in her/his caseload and present results to the group.
