Learn to build and implement an
organized, effective, and fun-filled learning environment for your students
with moderate to severe disabilities including Autism, Down Syndrome,
Intellectual Disabilities, Multiple Disabilities, and others. Low Incidence
Disabilities (LID) programs often go by a variety of names, including Life
Skills, Functional Living Unit, Applied Learning Environment (ALE), etc.
Topics will include classroom
set up and organization, structuring for communication and behavior,
grade-level TEKS curriculum, Standards-Based Individualized Education Program (IEP)
development, STAAR Alternate 2, year-long planning, grading, and being the instructional
leader in the classroom. Participants will take away a toolbox of
materials to build their classroom programs!
Handouts will distributed via a link to a Google Drive sent to your email 1-2 days before the training so that you may have the option to print it prior to the training.
There will be homework assignments.
