Important Session Information:

This is a half-day Non-violent Crisis Intervention: Refresher Course.  This course is appropriate for educators and staff at all grade levels within the educational community who can show their certification has not expired as of the month of the workshop. A separate course will be offered for those whose certification has expired or are first-time participants. This interactive workshop will review strategies for participants struggling with student behavior and discipline issues and ways to de-escalate students before a crisis occurs. Participants will refresh their skills of watching for warning signs and verbal diffusion techniques for dealing with the most difficult student behaviors. Given the team nature of the restraint techniques taught in this course, a minimum of 4 participants must be enrolled. If less than 4 participants enroll in this course, it will be canceled because the full scope of restraint will not be experienced by the participant.

Participants must attend the full workshop and pass the post-test in order to receive credit and certification.  You must be registered prior to attending this certification training.

Given the physically interactive nature of this workshop, participants should dress appropriately; including flat, closed-toe shoes. Only those wearing the appropriate footwear will be permitted to participate.

Please be mindful that the start time is 8:00 a.m. and therefore, should any participants arrive after 15 minutes of instruction, you will not be able to stay for this course; as per certification requirements outlined by Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI).

This session meets the requirement TAC, 89.1053 (d): Personnel using restraint in an emergency must receive training within 30 school days after the use of restraint.
