Counseling as a Related Service: Evaluation & IEP Development Considerations Webinar

ESC-20 provides resources, training and technical assistance for evaluators. Quarterly contact group meetings for LSSP’s and Educational Diagnosticians are also provided.

Important Session Information:

Research suggests that schools have become the de facto mental health system for many children. For students identified for special education services due to disabilities, their individualized education programs (IEPs) include special education and related services. Those related services are the necessary services the student requires to benefit from their special education. Counseling as a related service is determined, in part, through an evaluation to ultimately inform service provision, goals and recommendations made to the Admission, Review, and Dismissal committee. Join us to explore factors surrounding the evaluation and recommendation of counseling as a related service, as well as the use of that evaluation to drive IEP development.
