Personal Self-defense & Verbal De-escalation



The ESC-20 School Safety Program provides training and technical assistance to school districts in the comprehensive development of school safety programs.



Important Session Information:


The primary target audience for the session is front office staff, but any district staff member is welcome to attend. Our front office staff is usually the first person to encounter a member of the community or staff member who is upset about an issue. This session will provide a proven technique that has been used by members of law enforcement in an attempt to calm down an individual, let them know their concern has been heard, and other appropriate options are available to resolving their issue. However, in some cases despite attempts to calm down an individual the confronter may feel a need to result to violence. This session will instruct participants how to recognize when physical violence is likely and steps the person can take to physically defend themselves.
