Use of Quality Data to Drive Instruction

Important Session Information:

School evaluations performed by Licensed Specialists in School Psychology, Educational Diagnosticians, Speech-language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and Physical Therapists have been disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.  Many assessment professionals are now weighing the guidance and resources available to move forward with special education evaluations.  This workshop will focus on federal and state guidance as well as available research evidence about administering evaluations in virtual settings or with the use of personal protective equipment.  Information provided by test publishers, professional organizations, and virtual learning companies will be discussed, along with proposed sample report wording for different scenarios.

Learning objectives:

The participants will . . .

  1. Describe federal and state guidance on evaluations with virtual or socially distanced administration.
  2. Discuss the quantity and quality of evidence available to determine the effectiveness of evaluations with virtual or socially distanced administration.
  3. List possible ways to move forward with special education evaluations in sample scenarios.
