Paraprofessionals Providing Communication Support to Student (AAC Grant)



ESC-20 provides training and technical assistance for all areas of Assistive Technology. An assistive technology lab is available for previewing assistive technology equipment and/or checking out devices for evaluation purposes.

This is an online session 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Education Service Center, Region 20 (ESC-20) will be offering a unique training opportunity in the area of Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC) to support students with non-verbal and low-verbal disabilities, including students with Autism, Down Syndrome, Cognitive, and Orthopedic Disabilities for Paraprofessionals. Participants will learn skills needed to support functional communication systems for a students who are nonverbal or have limited language or unintelligible speech. This program will be utilizing LAMP Words for Life, a symbol-based, text to speech communication app based on the PRC Unity Language System, utilizing the iPad.

All handouts will distributed via a link to a Google Drive sent to your email 1-2 days before the training so that you may have the option to print it prior to the training.
