The 2020-2021 Transition Webinar series includes 5, 1-hour sessions throughout the school year:

May 20, 2021
Session 1-Constructing IEP goals for students in middle and high school- This session will look at the creation of IEP goals to support students’ needs in secondary classrooms.  Learn how to connect academic and functional IEP goals to post-secondary transition goals to begin preparing students for life after high school.

Session 2-Moving toward independence with accommodations & modifications- This session will discuss the importance of collecting data on the use of accommodations and modifications.  Using progress monitoring data is an important indicator in the committee decision to when to fade support or use alternate supports and accessibility options.   An important role for the secondary teacher is to foster independent learners with self-determination skills. 

June 3, 2021
Session 3-Talking transition and post-secondary goals- This session will focus on the steps and timelines needed to create post-secondary goals as part of the IEP.  Join us to develop an understanding of how to support students with the skills and education needed to reach their personal transition goals.

June 10, 2021
Session 4-Exploring CTE as a pathway for electives- This session features an explanation of the Foundation plan for graduation.   The Foundation plan requires five electives, and these electives can be chosen from CTE programs of study.  Join us to learn how to link CTE programs of study to earning an endorsement, and begin to connect this skilled pathway to a solid transition plan.

Session 5-Developing the personal graduation plan and course of study- This session will discuss the creation of a personal graduation plan (PGP) and transition plan course of study.   Well-built transition plans can ensure a student is on the right track to graduate and help them meet post-secondary goals.
