With the current COVID-19 pandemic, school evaluators increasingly face the challenge of
recognizing autism spectrum differences and engaging individuals in productive diagnostic
interviews while managing the need for social distancing and other health precautions. This
workshop introduces participants to the ways in which the MIGDAS-2 sensory–based diagnostic
interview system can be adapted for remote autism evaluations. The session highlights the use of
the MIGDAS-2 visual framework and descriptive language to individualize the diagnosis of
autism spectrum differences while using a secure online platform with students across age and
ability levels. In addition, this workshop will link the use of the MIGDAS-2 diagnostic process
to key interventions and educational supports adapted to virtual or online learning conditions.
This is a two-part virtual session on 10/27 and 10/28/2020.
An application for TSHA continuing education is pending at this time.
