Important Session Information:

Computer science is foundational for all students. But a lot of schools don’t teach it, especially at the elementary level. Now you can! With the help of the University of Texas - Austin and Code.org, ESC-20 is providing a no-cost, one day workshop for K-5 teachers interested in teaching computer science. Tens of thousands of teachers have participated and the majority say it’s the best PD they’ve ever attended.

You will receive: webinar-based instruction including an intro to computer science, pedagogy, overview of the online curriculum, teacher dashboard, and strategies for teaching “unplugged” classroom activities. In addition, you will receive: printed curriculum guide, certificate of completion, and fun Code.org swag

This session is designed for teachers, librarians, instructional coaches, and administrators grades K-5 to learn about Code.org resources and how to begin to integrate computer science into your future curriculum. Registering in Connect20 is only one half of signing up for the session. Once you sign up via Connect20, immediately check your confirmation email (check junk/spam) for the information on how to sign up via Code.org. Code.org registration is required and if you do not complete that step you are NOT registered for the session.

YOU ARE ONLY ELIGIBLE TO ATTEND THIS SESSION ONE TIME. If you have ever attended a Code.org training session, you will be unable to attend.

NOTE: This session will take place over the entire day in the form of a webinar. From 10:00 am to Noon and 2:15-4:30 pm we will meet in live webinar sessions. From Noon - 2:15 pm you will have 1.75 hours of work with an assigned partner and 30 minutes for lunch. Please reserve the entire day on your schedule and be prepared to participate actively. Link to join the webinar will be sent week of the session if you have completed the Code.org registration. You will need a laptop, desktop or Chromebook to participate. Earbuds or headphones with microphone are also very helpful!
