Important Session Information:

This session will cover the following assessment tools:

Hometalk – This assessment tool (designed by and for parents with children that are deafblind) provides information for the evaluator and staff and helps parents be an active member in the development of their child’s program.

First Things First – This manual provides instructional strategies for children not ready to use symbols to communicate.  Practical strategies are provided that can encourage early communication.  The manual provides forms for tracking and monitoring instruction.

Communication Matrix – A communication skills assessment instrument for individuals functioning at the earliest stages of communication (pre-symbolic, augmentative or alternate forms). This instrument also has a parent edition in both English and Spanish.
