This is part 2 of a three-part series.
- Part 1: Overview of Dyslexia Intervention for General and Special Educators (webinar)
- Part 2: SPDI and SDI Basics (webinar)
- Part 3: How to Specially Design Dyslexia Instruction (face-to-face)
Part 2: SPDI and SDI Basics
What is the difference between Standard Protocol Dyslexia Instruction (SPDI) and Specially Designed Instruction (SDI)? How do you know who needs specially designed instruction as opposed to standard protocol dyslexia instruction? Who is responsible for providing these services to students identified with dyslexia?
This session will explore each of these questions, and prepare participants for Part 3. Participants will leave with a better understanding of the relationship between these instructional services and how to use evaluation data to know which type of instruction may be most effective for students.
Recommended Prerequisite: This session is an advanced session. Participants who have completed Dyslexia Identification Series Part 1 (Dyslexia 101) and Overview of Dyslexia Instruction for General and Special Educators (or are familiar with the dyslexia instructional program used at their campus/district) will gain the most benefit from this session.
Suggested Audience: Special education teachers, dyslexia interventionists, ARD facilitators, administrators
NOTE: This is a recommended prerequisite to How to Specially Design Dyslexia Instruction for those who do not have a background in dyslexia intervention.
