ESC-20 provides training and technical assistance to programs serving students who are deaf or hard of hearing, including assisting programs meet the unique needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing across the continuum of placement options.

This session provides an overview of the similarities and differences of literacy development between deaf and hearing children through the five key elements of reading. Strategies to support targeted skills in FLUENCY to help students who are deaf and hard of hearing move beyond emergent literacy and closer to conventional literacy will be discussed.
