This in-person workshop focuses on the use of low tech communication skills to enhance the communication development of students with limited language skills. In addition to the discussion of a range of low tech AAC options, information regarding guiding principles and strategies for implementation will be presented. Participants will have the opportunity to apply the information to their own students and create appropriate low tech systems to use in their schools. SLPs, AT Specialists, and Teachers are encouraged to attend as teams or as individuals.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe a range of low tech AAC systems accommodating a variety of users.
- Discuss strategies implementing a low tech AAC system for communication development.
- Apply strategies for low tech AAC systems to a student in the participants’ caseloads.
