The ESC-20 School Safety Program provides training and technical assistance to school districts in the comprehensive development of school safety programs.



Important Session Information:


This course in advanced fundamentals, logistics, and operations for school-based threat assessment is open to individuals who have completed the Level 1 Threat Assessment course at ESC 20 or through the Texas School Safety Center. This course does not meet the Threat Assessment Team requirement for SB11. Participants in this course are expected to be active participants and will build on their threat assessment knowledge through some of the following topics:

  • Staying the course: Threat Assessment Team scope and mission
  • Group quiz-based navigation through FERPA and information sharing during emergency situations
  • Logistical coordination of team roles, threat triage, and 24/7 team responsivity
  • Effective documentation as a legal safeguard explored through interactive case study
  • Advanced interview strategies with subjects of concern and difficult individuals
  • Managing the unrelenting ‘victim’ in the absence of a credible threat
  • Proactive approaches to threat management
  • Sharing Agreements: resource collaboration across campuses and districts
