School Safety
Situational Awareness and Response to Violent Encounters

The ESC-20 School Safety Program provides training and technical assistance to school districts in the comprehensive development of school safety programs.

Important Session Information:

The primary target audience for this session is front office staff, but any district/charter school staff member is welcome to attend. Our front office staff is usually the first person to encounter a member of the community or staff member who is upset about an issue. This 3.5-hour seminar will focus on mental and physical preparation for violent encounters. Delivered in a lecture style format by state certified instructors, the presentation covers the tiers of awareness and dissects the mental cycles that occur during violent encounters. It also addresses practical steps that can be taken at the workplace or in other environments to help prevent or avoid such encounters. The lecture will be a guided discussion type, with students interacting and providing their own experiences and tips on how to improve safety when confronted with unwanted situations. Instructors will also discuss practical options that can be used in self defense and provide resources for self defense training and equipment. The workshop will also include awareness techniques regarding social media security.
