Paraprofessionals Providing Communication Support to Student's Communication (AAC Grant)



ESC-20 provides training and technical assistance for all areas of Assistive Technology. An assistive technology lab is available for previewing assistive technology equipment and/or checking out devices for evaluation purposes.

This is an online session 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Education Service Center, Region 20 (ESC-20) will be offering a unique training opportunity in the area of Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC) to support students with non-verbal and low-verbal disabilities, including students with Autism, Down Syndrome, Cognitive, and Orthopedic Disabilities for Paraprofessionals. Participants will learn skills needed to support functional communication systems for students who are nonverbal or have limited language or unintelligible speech. This program will be utilizing LAMP Words for Life, a symbol-based, text to speech communication app based on the PRC Unity Language System, utilizing the iPad.

All handouts will distributed via a link to a Google Drive sent to your email 1-2 days before the training so that you may have the option to print it prior to the training.
