G/T 6 hour update - Grades 9-12 Incorporation of Depth and Complexity into Instruction (SWISD)



The Gifted and Talented program at Education Service Center, Region 20 (ESC-20) promotes and supports the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented students through professional development and technical assistance. This is accomplished by advocating, designing and providing an array of learning experiences for teachers and administrators of gifted and talented students in order to enable them to provide a nurturing environment in which these students with special abilities, unique needs, and diverse backgrounds are recognized.

Important Session Information:


In this workshop, participants will explore how Depth and Complexity can be used as an asset for instruction when designing appropriate lessons for students. The Depth and Complexity Framework can be utilized to ensure appropriate engagement with the standards. The components allow for students to connect experiences from their funds of knowledge with the TEKS to help facilitate deeper and more purposeful understandings.

This sessions is exclusive to teachers from SWISD teaching grades 9-12.

NOTE: This session can count for a G/T Day 4, Day 5 or 6-Hour Update if not previously taken.
