2021 Legal Update for Evaluation Personnel: Welcome to the Special Education Multiverse



ESC-20 provides resources, training and technical assistance for evaluators. Quarterly contact group meetings for LSSP’s and Educational Diagnosticians are also provided.
 


Important Session Information:


Just when you thought the evaluation superheroes had it all figured out— KABOOM! Everything changed! We never could have predicted this year and every day special educators feel like ‘WHAM! Let’s start over.’ Elvin W. Houston will lead a wide-ranging conversation concerning the current legal battles that face evaluation personnel in these unpredictable times.  Elvin will deliver legal guidance (POW!) relevant to new and experienced evaluators, discussing real-time legal issues such as completing evaluations while students are receiving virtual instruction, incorporating dyslexia evaluation into the District’s special education referral processes, and he will review the latest cases that impact special education evaluators.  With an eye on legal compliance and defensible practices, Elvin will guide evaluation personnel through this new special education multiverse to attack the legal challenges that public school evaluators are fighting this fall.
