Career & Technology Education (CTE)
WEBINAR: Unpacking the CTE Standards - A Two Day Deep Dive into the TEKS

CTE instruction aims at developing foundational skills, core workplace competencies, and specific skill competencies in various occupational areas. Internships, practicums, cooperative education, school-based enterprises, dual enrollment programs, and apprenticeships are a few venues that deliver CTE by providing meaningful opportunities for leaners to apply their academic and technical skills. We serve the career and education community through targeted support for CTE compliance, program development and implementation with rigor and relevancy; bridging with postsecondary education and industry partners to build a global workforce, quality education programs and 21st century learners.

Important Session Information:

Participants are asked to bring a copy of the TEKS, for the CTE course they wish to explore during this two day workshop.

Participants will dive into designing effective instruction with the CTE TEKS using depth and understanding as we unpack the CTE Standards (AKA: The TEKS) for the particular course the participant wishes to explore and unpack in this training. Participants will have theopportunity to design a sample unit of study for their course. Participants will understand how their course builds upon the content of the previous course in the program of study and how their course prepares students forthe content and standards in the next course in the program of study (scaffolding).

On day two of the training, participants will design a YAG ("year at a glance”) calendar for their particular CTE course.

Time permitting, participants will hear from experts on how to take the next step in the process to build an IFD (Instructional Focus Document) for their particular CTE course.
