Trauma Sensitive Schools
Professional development for counselors is aligned with the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Standards and Competencies and with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) Comprehensive, Developmental Guidance and Counseling Program Standards (Pre-K - Grade 12). Topics will be addressed to assist school counselors in developing the four components in their school counseling program: Guidance Curriculum, Responsive Services, Individual Planning and System Support.
Important Session Information:
Participants will learn what trauma is and who is affected, how we respond to stress, the impact of trauma exposure on our campuses, and what it means to be a trauma-sensitive school. Participants will better understand why the trauma-sensitive approach is necessary for school and staff engagement to increase learning.
