Important Session Information:


All K-12 schools receiving Federal preparedness monies through the USDOE, DHS, or HHS are required to support the implementtaion of NIMS (National Incident Management System) by completing Incident Command (IC) courses. The TxSSC is also encouraging districts and charters to complete these courses to ensure greater communication between community partners and our schools during school based incidents. Although these courses are available online, and self-paced; these courses are being made avaialble in-person at ESC 20.

IS-100: Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS)

Introduces ICS and provides a foundation for higher level ICS training. This course describes the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of the ICS. It also explains the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS).

IS-200: Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response

Reviews ICS and provides the context for ICS within initial response, and supports higher level ICS training. This course provides training on, and resources for, personnel who are likely to assume a supervisory position on-site during an incident.
