This workshop, a requirement from the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), is for individuals who conduct vision and hearing screenings in school settings. Certifications expire every five years and may be renewed through this training. Participants should bring an audiometer to this workshop. Prerequisites: Prior Vision and Hearing Certification (Participants must bring proof of prior certification.) NOTE: Participants who are 15 or more minutes late must reschedule this workshop. THIS MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE YOUR CERTIFICATIONS HAVE EXPIRED. IF YOUR CERTIFICATIONS HAVE EXPIRED, YOU WILL NEED TO RETAKE THE INITIAL VISION AND HEARING CERTIFICATION CLASSES.
If you received a provision certification from DSHS through a virtual class during the 2020-2021 school year the provisional certification is valid through December 31, 2022. Individuals with a provisional certification are not eligible to participate in the recertification course until 2022.
