K-3 Specially Designed Mathematics Instruction with Sarah Powell (Virtual)
Sarah R. Powell, PhD, is an associate professor in the Department of Special Education at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Powell's research interests include developing and testing interventions for students with mathematics difficulties, with a special emphasis on peer tutoring, word-problem solving, mathematics writing, and the symbols and vocabulary within mathematics.

This session will be targeted for early elementary grades K-3 teachers to learn more about high leverage practices for math intervention. Dr. Powell's research will guide this session in better understanding how to support diverse needs in mathematics. Her session will also provide an in-depth look and application of the use of instructional routines in the classroom.
