This 90-minute virtual session is the fourth of a 4-session webinar series for paraprofessionals. One may attend all four sessions in the order that they are offered or one may pick and choose between the sessions.
Paraprofessionals are often asked to take data collection as a common job duty, but this process can seem confusing and sometimes even intimidating to those new to the expectation. The focus of this session is to develop a greater understanding of the "why and how" of data collection and its role in progress monitoring IEP goals, determining effectiveness of interventions, and increasing student achievement.
In this session participants will:
- Review the purpose behind data collection and its connection to the student's individualized education program (IEP)
- Identify common data collection tools
- Discuss common challenges to data collection
- Practice data collection methods
This session will utilize the TEA-vetted documents, "Working with Paraprofessionals: A Resource for Teachers of Students with Disabilities" and the "Working with Paraprofessionals Field Users Guide." No prior knowledge or training is required prior to attending this session.
This session is appropriate for paraprofessionals who support inclusive services and/or work within self-contained settings and general education and special education teachers who act as the supervising teacher for paraprofessionals.
Other Fall sessions offered in the paraprofessional series are listed below. We highly suggest attending all sessions. All sessions are offered again in the Spring.
