This HB3 Reading Academy Online course launches on July 11, 2022 and runs through July 1, 2023. All work will be submitted and completed on Canvas.
This registration is only for teachers or administrators that will be completing the course on their own and not as part of an LEA group. The last day to register through Connect20 for individual participation in the July cohort is August 17, 2022.
House Bill 3 was updated by the 87th Texas Legislature in June 2021, it now states that all kindergarten through third grade teachers and principals must attend a "teacher literacy achievement academy" by the end of the 2022 - 2023 school year. All K-3 teachers, including special education teachers, and principals are required to complete the HB 3 Reading Academies by 2023.
Blended Model:
- Online model consisting of 12 modules (executed through Canvas)
- Provide artifacts for modules
- Demonstrate proficiency in competencies through artifact submission and assessments
- Approximately 60 hours to complete
- 12 months to complete
- $400 per participant
