Important Session Information:
Reading and Writing Argumentative Texts:
Changes in the TEKS and subsequently the STAAR test have made it very likely for students to be assessed on their understanding of argumentative texts, which are likely the genre teachers
and
students are least familiar with. This session will review key elements of rhetoric; discern differences among argumentative texts, informational, and persuasive texts; and provide resources for lessons that will sharpen students’ argumentative skills.
